Pier 8 Condos

Pier 8 Condos is a new development by Cityzen Development Group in Hamilton, Canada. Situated at the intersection of Guise St E and Discovery Dr, the 5.24-hectare site offers opportunities for residential, commercial, and institutional spaces within nine development blocks. The city plans to enhance the area by introducing roads, municipal services, and the Pier 8 Promenade Park, designed through a 2017 competition.

With a focus on sustainability, 40% of the site will be dedicated to public open spaces, including 1.6 kilometers of walkable landscapes connecting to waterfront parks. The project aims for LEED Gold and WELL Building certifications, emphasizing environmental and occupant well-being. Plans include innovative energy solutions like wastewater heat recovery and solar photovoltaics.

The development proposes a partnership with the Ontario Centres of Excellence to support local start-ups focused on green and intelligent-city technologies. Waterfront Shores Corporation, formed by Cityzen Development Corporation, Fernbrook Homes Group, GFL Environmental Inc., and Greybrook Realty Partners Inc., oversees the project's acquisition and development.

Architectural design firms associated with the project include KPMB Architects, gh3 Inc., Omar Gandhi Architect, and superkül. Pier 8 is a central element of the West Harbour waterfront revitalization, which encompasses improvements to waterfront access, marina facilities, shoreline structures, and fish habitats. Additionally, a new commercial zone and public space are planned for Piers 6 and 7.
